A lovely city

Just 6 kilometers from Van der Valk Hotel Stein-Urmond lies the historic city of Sittard.

Sittard forms the center of the Westelijke Mijnstreek. After Maastricht (circa 1204) and Roermond (1232), Sittard is the 3rd city (1243) with city rights, making it one of the older cities in the Netherlands. Sittard is rich in monuments and was even voted Greenest City of the Netherlands in the year 2000.

Sittard is vibrant

The cozy center, the cafés and heated terraces make it a great place to relax after a day of shopping. In the evening, Sittard is bustling. The many entertainment venues, city theaters, and performances on the old market square give Sittard a vibrant character.
The cityscape consists of old monumental buildings and half-timbered houses. Sittard is truly an excellent walking and cycling area.
